ADMISSION
Adults and parents of children seeking to participate in our classes must fill out a registration form along with their payment.
COURSE FEES
Fees for all courses must be paid at the time of registration. You may cancel with a full refund up to 14 days prior to the commencement date of your course. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received within 14 days of the commencement of the course however we will welcome a substitute and we will mail you the recipes from class.
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Children participating in our courses will learn how to serve and prepare age appropriate meals for the family. During these courses the children in grades 4-8 will use professional knives, gas and electric appliances, and other kitchen utensils and equipment (hereinafter referred to as “Equipment”). It is understood and assumed that by registering your children in our courses, you are aware and consent to their use of such Equipment and consent to their participation in our course activities.
Taste & Technique’s staff will take all reasonable precautions to provide a safe environment for your children and will provide appropriate supervision. However, it is your responsibility as the parent to determine whether your child has the ability to safely participate in the course activities.
A description of the courses and the meals to be prepared are provided in our course brochure. Please choose the courses wisely keeping in mind not only your child’s tastes and abilities but also any allergies or other medical condition that may make a course inappropriate for your child. Taste & Technique cannot be responsible if students eat or touch foods to which they are allergic. Alcohol such as wine, sherry and brandy may be used in meal preparation, but all alcohol will be cooked out.
Students will only be picked up by persons designated on the registration form. Given that there may be other courses and/or events following a particular class, it is important that parents be on time picking up their children. Taste & Technique can not be responsible for students not picked up on time after class.
SANITATION / ILLNESS
Before handling foods all participants must wash and dry their hands. Anti-bacterial soap and/or hand sanitizers will be provided. Please be considerate of other participants. Do not attend the course if you are sick and/or potentially contagious.
We ask that parents not send in children who have been vomiting, have a rash, have diarrhea, have an eye infection, have a sore throat, have a runny noses and/or other symptoms of illness. Taste & Technique reserves the right to send sick children home. If a child becomes ill during a course, we will contact the parent or other designated contact to have that child picked up.
EMERGENCIES
In the event of a serious medical emergency, Taste & Technique staff will call 911 and will notify the parent and/or designated emergency contact. Minor medical emergencies will be dealt with as appropriate by the Taste & Technique staff, the student themselves and/or a parent or designated contact will be called.
In the event of a medical emergency, parents of children participating in our courses consent and authorize the Taste & Technique staff to transport and/or seek appropriate medical treatment for the child. In any such situation, a parent and/or designated emergency contact will called.
BEHAVIOR
All participants in our courses are expected to behave appropriately. Taste & Technique reserves the right to ask any participant who is acting inappropriately and/or disturbing the experience of other students to leave. In such situations, no refunds or credits will be provided.
Children enrolled in our courses are expected to observe appropriate classroom behavior. Taste & Technique will make every effort to keep the children entertained and busy. However, as in all classes there may be some downtime. It is the parent’s responsibility to determine whether a particular course is appropriate for their child keeping in mind their attention span and interests. Acceptable behavior will be outlined at the beginning of class and children will be given friendly reminders throughout the course as necessary. Taste & Technique is committed to providing a fun and safe environment for the children participating in our classes. We can not allow inappropriate classroom behavior to spoil the experience for all participants. If a child is exhibiting behavior which jeopardizes either the safety or the positive experience of the other children, Taste & Technique reserves the right to ask that the child be picked up from class. Taste & Technique reserves the right to refuse, suspend and/or expel a child from participation in a course.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY
I understand that there may be certain risks related to my or my child’s participation in the courses offered by Taste & Technique. I understand, that as stated above, children will use knives, gas and electric appliances, and other kitchen utensils and equipment (hereinafter referred to as “Equipment”). I understand the nature of the proposed activities and hereby assume any and all risks associated with those activities.
My or my child’s participation in any courses offered by Taste & Technique is of a voluntary nature. I hereby release Taste & Technique from any and all claims, damages, and liabilities, including without limitation personal injury and damage to property, known or unknown of any kind in law or in equity that I may have now or in the future arising from or related to my or my child’s participation in Taste & Technique’s courses. I further agree to indemnify, defend and hold Taste & Technique harmless from any claims and/or liabilities that may arise as a result of my or my child’s participation in any of the courses offered by Taste & Technique and/or arising from my or my child’s negligent or intentional acts.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
By signing this form I acknowledge that I have read and understand the above policies and procedures, including without limitation the RELEASE OF LIABILITY, and agree to abide by them.
